Interim Pastor John Wesley Wilson, Sr.
About Pastor Wilson
Background
Pastor Wilson was born in Salters, SC to David and Sylvia Wilson. They were blessed with eight children, which three of the siblings along with his parents have all proceeded him in death. He is the only boy out the eight children and the seventh child.
Pastor Wilson was called to the ministry in the early part of 1979. After God called him he began taking classes thru Morris College Extension program for two years. During this time he made a spiritual move from St. Luke United Methodist Church, his home church, to Cedar Grove Baptist Church in January 1981. Shortly after that he was licensed to preach God’s gospel.
Service and Beliefs
Pastor Wilson remained at Cedar Grove for about a year until the pastor (Dr. Herman Gibson), sent him on assignment to Holy Rock Baptist Church in St. Stephen’s SC. In March of 1982 the church decided to keep him as their pastor and start a new journey. Within the month he was ordained and officially became the pastor at Holy Rock Baptist Church.
He remained the pastor at Holy Rock from March 1982 until May 1986. While at Holy Rock he also started pastoring St. Michael Baptist Church in New Zion, SC in 1983. After a period of just three years, he officially resigned from Holy Rock May 1986. The following month he started working with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alvin, SC due to the illness of their sitting pastor. After a few months, Bethlehem voted Pastor Wilson in as their new pastor. He resigned from St Michael in the year 2000 and he was the pastor for over 35 years at Bethlehem and has been laboring in the vineyard for more than 42 years.
God has truly been a blessing in his life down thru the years and Pastor Wilson has been faithful to his purpose and the will of the Lord for his life. He’s always been excited about the growth of the church ministry spiritually since he became a pastor and he continues to exude that same level of excellence today.
